Clinical Psychologist

Mami trained at the University of Otago and has a PhD and a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology. Her PhD research involved examining the impact of aspirations on wellbeing. Mami’s areas of clinical interest include anxiety, depression, low self-worth, underachievement, relationship difficulties, and complex trauma.

Mami’s approach to therapy involves collaborative work through compassionate inquiry that aims to discover the client’s emotional truth and restore the connection with the authentic self. Mami’s goal for clients is to help bring back their own power to change and lead the meaningful life they truly desire. Mami is originally from Japan and enjoys working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
